IDEAS
My writing, paired with my evidence, is capable of causing readers to think deeply or gain new knowledge upon fully reading a passage. The evidence is also capable of effectively supporting the ideas that are being portrayed.
COMING OF AGE POSTER
Mainly associated with writing, ideas can also relate to anything artistic as well. This poster was meant to represent the general idea of coming of age; the transitional period from adolescence to adulthood. Coming of Age itself was a prompt for an essay in which I wrote prior to creating this poster, meaning that the poster is meant for the essay. I think this best captures the prompt and the essay (which can be read here) because of how I chose to lay out and structure what's happening. Coming of age is a transition, thus inspiring the idea of separation. A distinct one, which is represented through the difference in filters and effects. However, this transition is still occurring to a single individual, inspiring the choice to keep the image the same, even with different effects being applied. One is corrupted, childish; an almost evil look. The other, with it's pink and yellow hues, evokes a calmer and more understandable tone in contrast with the intentionally disorganized other half.
RISKY BUSINESS ESSAY
This essay details some of the harsh yet truthful realities of how many individuals in today's recent generations are so easily swayed by social media, and how negative of an effect it may have. However, by targeting the teenage demographic as the general type of people in which is going to read this essay, my information needed to be conveyed effectively and with sufficient amounts of relevant evidence. I think that this assignment best represents this standard because throughout the essay, I provide statistics, quotes, etc., but not without pairing it with sensible commentary that further improves my intent with the essay--to provide the reader with new knowledge, or to think differently after reading the piece. When writing something to an audience, one must be able to capture their attention and not lose it. I spend just enough time on one concept and move on to the next.
