SENTENCE FLUENCY

Sentences aren't of congruent lengths, nor are they entirely one type. Long short, simple, complex, or parallel; there is a great mixture of it that helps the overall piece convey it's message.

COMING OF AGE ESSAY

It's used in speeches, presentations, and obviously, writing. Sentence fluency isn't simply using a variety of sentences; it's an intentional and purposeful mixture of the various types (listed above) to benefit the essay in conveying it's message. It's like a lot of things in life; there is never a definite strategy. These two, being my strongest essays by far among all of the other pieces I've written, had to be repeated. Besides; "Coming of Age", being a personal essay (you've seen this already on a previous page), shouldn't sound robotic or forced. By varying the lengths in my sentences, I create a personal connection to viewers; one that is genuine and cohesive.

RISKY BUSINESS ESSAY

Akin to the above essay, this too has been repeated, and for good reason. I wanted to show that, personal or not, I'm capable of applying the concept of sentence fluency to any piece of writing through using this essay as a strong evidence. Once all of the different concepts to writing an essay or writing anything really are understood, we start to see patterns. Some clear, some not. For example, sentence fluency between paragraphs; every topic sentence to each body paragraph starts off covering what that paragraph is about. Sentences containing explanations/commentary are spaced apart appropriately from their evidence. However, it's done with care. Within the essay, proficient sentence fluency allows me to present what I want to present to the audience effectively.
